I am a first time parent to a 7 month old baby, my wife and I are looking for the cheapest but the most reasonable price range baby monitor in the market. Any suggestions which company brand?

Like most first time parents do, we found it very necessary to get a baby camera monitor which will be able to pick up baby's faintest cry from the camera in the room, and alert us through a seperate portable screen monitor. Let us face it, we can't be watching our baby even in his sleep 24/7 hours. 

Looking after a newborn is a tough work, for those of you who doesn't quite know about it. It can be more stressful than going out and working. However, in the end it gives us a special feeling of happiness, when we watch our baby grow so fast. We are raising the next generation, and they totally deserve our utmost care we can deliver. 

I have heard stories of parents leaving their babies to sleep in their room on their own, and mum or dad goes to do some housework in the house. Before she/he knows it, they heard a loud thump noise, only to find their baby fallen to the ground from the bed. If the fall was bad enough, the babies could suffer permanent damage to their soft skull and brain which could result in actual death eventually. 

Babies love rolling a lot in their sleep, whenever they start to be able to do that. I find this behaviour dangerous and I try to lay pillow around the baby leaving behind enough space between the baby and the pillows. I make sure that the baby doesn't get suffocated from the pillow, as I read story of how parents were devastated, when their baby died due to suffocation by pillow. This is another reason why a baby monitor will save lives. 

I do not like those baby monitor which doesn't have camera + baby screen monitor 5" inch. I like to be able to see if my baby has rolled near to the edge of the bed or not. Those models that only picks up baby's cry, cannot tell if my baby is still tucked into the bed or have already fallen over the bed to the ground. I do not want those cheapest models. Something more decent in quality but on sale would be our preference of choice.

For any new parents, raising their first infant child can be the most difficult task ever in their life. In some cases, the stress of taking care of a young child  becomes too much for new parents to handle, and they end by being separated or divorced.

It is true that infants baby needs constant 24/7 monitoring to prevent any accidents, that could lead to death such as suffocation by pillow, falling off the edge of bed, difficulty breathing due to laying down on stomach. This is exactly the reason why a baby camera monitor comes in handy for any parents. 

As parents are not able to look after and monitor infants 24/7 because they also need to do house work like cleaning, cooking, washing clothes, shower, Baby camera monitor allows us to do those housework and monitor the baby at the same time. It makes our life easier and gives us assurance in knowing precisely, what is happening with our baby infant in real time. 

Stay away from using those security camera which allows you to access camera video content, using a data connection or WiFi. Reason being that if in case, a hacker breaks into your security camera monitoring your baby infant, you would not know what the hackers can do with it. Also your room is supposed to have privacy without some hackers prying eyes into your bedroom and watching everything going on there.

This happened to a couple who embraces technology very dearly and almost everything electronic is "Smart" in their house, and they can be controlled through internet data and WiFi. Little did they know, a hacker broke into their security camera monitoring their baby infant, and the hackers started threatening the parents with recorded video footage of their baby infant. 

Why I am saying a baby monitor is much safer to use, is because it cannot be hacked easily, since it doesn't connect to home WiFi and internet. Unless the hacker is standing within the transmission range of the baby camera monitor and have the required expertise to hack into the monitoring system. 

There are some features that is important to have in a baby camera monitoring system which are listed below:

1. The baby monitor screen needs to be at least (5" inches in size) to allow for easy large viewing. You do not want to have to squint your eyes to watch the screen. 

2. The system should have at least "2 cameras" in the package because you may need a spare one, if the first one stops working suddenly. The second camera can also be used in living room or other recreation area for monitoring baby infant, so that you do not have to keep taking off the first camera and installing it in another desired place. 

3. A "zoom, pan and tilt function"  is just as important feauture. You may see something in your screen monitor device and you want to take a closer look. Perhaps you see your baby sleeping on its stomach, about to fall off edge of bed or pillow covering baby's face, zooming in will help you determine that. 

4. "Night vision" capability will allow you to watch your baby even in complete darkness. I know some baby love sleeping in absolute dark room. So this feature will still allow you to watch your baby but not in high definition color, but rather in black and white color on the screen monitor. 

5. The camera and screen monitor should have a transmission range of at least 1000 ft away. This means that if you hold your screen monitor from 1000 ft away from where the camera is located in your baby room, the screen monitor should still be able to display the video monitoring screen. 

6. "Two way intercom" will allow you to hear and talk to your baby infant to console him/her. Though this function feature is not very necessary but it is good to have. 

7. You can also activate soothing sounds and lullaby, and this will start playing from the camera located in your baby's room. You simply tap on your screen monitor to choose which sounds or lullaby you want and it will start playing from the camera in baby's room.

8. Having a temperature reading display on your screen monitor is another great feature to have. By looking at the temperature reading, you can tell if it is too hot or too cold in baby's room. The temperature reading may not be quite accurate but upto 1 or 2 degree Celsius off the actual accurate reading from my experience. 

9. It should have a pre-installed lithium rechargeable battery built in. This will allow you to recharge the unit many times and saves you from having to buy those "AA" batteries for other cheaper models baby camera monitor.
