There are no difference in performance between Rogers internet service and Fido internet services, because Fido works on the existing cable network of Rogers.

Rogers is catered to higher end customers who requires large bandwidth internet connection and customers are willing to pay for the higher price. Very often you won't find Rogers offering cheap internet plans with slower speed.

Fido is catered to the lower end customers who are more cautious about the cheaper price internet plans. These customers may not necessarily want faster speed but rather they prefer afforable prices with decent internet speed.

Rogers and Fido gives customer the same signal strength, same reception, and same country wide coverage. The only difference between the two companies are the price plan package they offer.

I have been with Rogers for 8 years, then i switched to Fido for 2 years but i wasn't quite happy with their internet connection. Rogers for some reason frequently increases their price yearly without informing the customers while their connection quality keeps getting sub par each year.

Rogers modem needs rebooting every now and then, as much as twice a month. At times, internet connection would stop working without any reason and the modem will need to be rebooted by unplugging and then re-plugging it. Also the internet speed is not as fast as advertised by Rogers, if you use "Speed Check" program online to test internet speed.

Fido was even worse than rogers, that i had to reboot the modem about once a week and there were days when internet would not work for a full day and then comes back for a week. Then again the modem needs rebooting.

This must be a problem pertaining to my home area because some of my friends were quite happy with Rogers and Fido.

When Rogers technician did an inspection of the cable internet in my house, i was told that my house cable wiring throughout my house was no good anymore. That i have to hire a professional cable guy to redo the entire existing cable wiring of my house, under my own expense.

So i switched over to Virgin Plus internet plans and this time they used the DSL phone land line connection instead of the cable. When i asked Virgin Plus why they giving me outdated DSL connection, they mentioned that it was not outdated. The Fibre Cable doesn't connect directly into my house, so they need to connect into my house uaing the DSL phone line connection. Rest assured, they still promised me a great internet connection.

In spite of that DSL connection into my house, i was surprised that Virgin Plus internet connection was quite steady, fast and reliable. Very rarely the modem needs rebooting. I also tried hooking up 8 devices running Youtube apps to see if any lag on performance, but the internet connection remained fast and strong.

Ever since then, i remained with Virgin Plus for 6 long years now. Virgin Plus runs on the same network as Bell Fibre Optic Cable which is more steady and more reliable than regular cable used by Rogers.
